The Chef’s Check Print is inspired by the traditional chef’suniform originating in France in the mid 19th century,consisting of a toque blanche (French for “white hat”), awhite double-breasted jacket, and a checked pant. Thechecked or houndstooth pattern on the pant was used toconceal stains and spills in order to maintain a cleanappearance while on the job.
